Concept / Research
Presence and Absence explores how field-recorded immigrant soundscapes can be translated into visual form without turning lived experience into direct exposure. The work foregrounds sonic presence, digital abstraction, and the tension between being heard and remaining partially unseen.
Technical System
Built in TouchDesigner, the system maps audio input to visual parameters such as scale, colour shift, particle movement, feedback, and noise intensity. Abstraction is used as a way to hold the tension between sonic evidence and mediated representation.
